Course |
Circuit course from the middle of Newport Beach, sou'-east towards the reef, north towards the headland, then back to the middle of the beach and into the beach. |
Conditions |
Newport is an exposed, albeit beautiful ocean beach which receives some protection from the reef offshore to the sou'-east and from rock platforms at either end of the beach, which protection varies according to the direction of prevailing swell and winds.
Can take a swell and a shorebreak. Please pay attention to the briefing on swim day for updates on conditions on the day.

Eligibility |
Entrants are restricted to persons who have adequately trained for this event. Entry is at the discretion of the race
committee. Minimum age of 10 years to compete.
Check the rules in the entry form for full info, but please note that no flotation devices are allowed. The organisers stress that this includes wetsuits. |

This swim has had a difficult run in finding a suitable date, so let's hope the first Sunday in January proves a good one. Nothing else on in Sydney that day. Newport club is very keen to make this swim one of the best on the calendar. Very supportive sponsors in Harris Farm Markets. |
